St. Rose Cares for the Youngest Members of Our Community
Children are full of energy and tend to get small scrapes and bruises. When their injuries or illnesses are more serious, such as broken bones, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) or diabetes, they may need to be admitted to the hospital. The Pediatric Unit at the Siena Campus is staffed with caring physicians, nurses and support staff who are specially trained to work with children.

St. Rose's Pediatric Unit is designed to make children and their families feel comfortable. Decorated in bright colors and shapes, the unit consists of pediatric rooms plus pediatric ICU rooms. Each room has a couch that converts to a bed so a parent can stay in the room overnight.
The Pediatric ICU rooms are equipped for children with serious illnesses and injuries such as brain tumors, respiratory failures and head injuries. The Pediatric ICU nurses are specially trained to care for these critical patients.
The unit also features a game room, exam rooms with dinosaur tables and a Kids Korner Grocery.
The Kids Korner Grocery is an award-winning amenity that allows parents to take an active role in their child's care. Using a variety of food choices, parents can prepare meals for their child. For some parents and children, this option helps both feel more relaxed and involved.
Pediatric Emergency Room - Siena Campus
St. Rose Dominican Hospitals-Siena Campus' Pediatric Emergency Room is the only hospital E.R. in the southeast part of the valley that caters specifically to children.
Let's face it - kids are NOT just mini versions of adults. Their needs - medical and emotional - are unique and require experts to properly address them. Our Siena Campus Pediatric E.R. provides:
- Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physicians, 24/7
- Specialized Pediatric Emergency Nurses
- Child-friendly setting, separate from the main E.R.
- Level III Trauma Center
- Collaborative care with your family pediatrician
- Equipment designed especially for children
- And, most importantly, around-the-clock care - day or night - seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Find comfort in knowing that your child is in the hands of trained experts who specialize in caring specifically for children in an emergency setting. Though it is always our hope that you and your child won't have to visit an E.R. any time soon, should the need arise, we are here and dedicated to serving you and caring for your child in the way only St. Rose can - with compassion and clinical excellence.
Child Life Specialists
Surgery and/or hospitalization can create anxiety for adults and even more so for children. The Pediatric Unit has a Certified Child Life Specialist on staff who is trained to help children understand illnesses, procedures and treatments. The Child Life Specialist uses special teaching tools and games to help children feel more comfortable in the hospital and will even accompany children into surgery to ease their fears.
