Siena Campus Expands Emergency and Operating Departments

(February 15, 2010; Henderson, Nev.). The Siena Campus of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals will begin construction on expansions of its emergency department and operating rooms in mid- to late March.

When complete, the expanded and remodeled emergency department will have new, more private admitting and triage areas; eight new “fast track” bays; and two additional pediatric beds (bringing the total up to eight). More than 1,500 square feet will be added to the emergency department and an additional 2,000 square feet will be remodeled. The expansion will also enlarge and update the Siena Campus’ security area which is adjacent to the emergency room.

The 2,200 square foot operating room expansion includes two additional operating rooms which will feature state-of-the-art technology with an overhead boom system for lighting and cameras along with split screen monitors. Once complete, the Siena Campus will have a total of 10 operating rooms.

“We are eager to get construction under way,” said Rod Davis, president/CEO of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals. “The emergency department’s eight new fast track or ‘quick care’ bays will give us the resources to respond to both minor injuries and critical cases more quickly. The new format – with these two separate emergency room areas – will enable our staff to serve patients more efficiently. The addition of the two new operating rooms will expand surgical services to both physicians and patients. Both projects will help us continue to provide the quality care our patients and the community deserve.”

All existing emergency room and operating room services will continue throughout construction with minimal disruption to either patients or staff.
