St. Rose Receives Healthyroads Fit Award


May 27, 2011; Henderson, Nev.) St. Rose Dominican Hospitals announced that it has recently received a Silver Healthyroads Fit Company Award for its efforts in creating and promoting a culture of wellness in the workplace. This is the second annual award from Healthyroads, the wellness subsidiary of American Specialty Health Incorporated (ASH) and St. Rose’s second award from the company.

“Working in hospitals can be extremely demanding and stressful,” said Rod Davis, president/CEO of St. Rose Dominican Hospitals. “All St. Rose employees are encouraged to participate in the free health and wellness, nutrition, smoking cessation and stress reduction programs offered at our hospitals.”

St. Rose and six other organizations were honored with awards and were judged on a point scale according to their commitment to best practices in worksite wellness, unique or creative ideas that encourage a culture of health at the workplace, clarity and consistency of employee health promotion and communications, and participation and engagement levels of their employees in wellness initiatives.

Judges included industry veterans Dr. Cathy Baase (global director of health, Dow Chemical), and Dr. Gary Frost (CEO, Frost & Associates), in addition to ASH officers George DeVries (CEO and chairman), Douglas Metz, DC (chief health services officer, executive VP), and Dr. Kenneth R. Pelletier (clinical professor of medicine at the University of Arizona and UCSF Schools of Medicine and ASH VP, health affairs).
