St. Rose Nurses Honored during Nurses Week
(HENDERSON, NV, April 11, 2008) - In honor of National Nurses Week and RN Recognition Day, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals is recognizing and thanking its more than 1,400 nurses by hosting a Nurses Appreciation Dinner for them on May 7.
"National Nurses Week is celebrated throughout the United States each year from May 6-12," said Rod A. Davis, president, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals. "National RN Recognition Day was established to raise awareness of the value of nursing and to help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people. St. Rose is proud of the dedication, commitment and tireless efforts of our nurses - they help us promote and maintain the high level of quality care at St. Rose."
Connie Clemmons Brown, Chief Nurse Executive for St. Rose, agrees. "National Nurses Week begins with RN Recognition Day and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing. St. Rose Dominican Hospitals will honor our extraordinary nurses by treating them to an appreciation dinner, serving cake during all shifts at each of our three hospital campuses and posting photos of them in special displays in our public areas."
Traditionally, National Nurses Week is devoted to highlighting the diverse ways in which registered nurses, the largest health care profession, are working to improve health care. From bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities to the halls of research institutions, state legislatures and Congress, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding health care needs of American society.
