Do you need to talk? We're here to listen.
(HENDERSON, NV, February 8, 2008) - St. Rose Dominican Hospitals now offers a Senior Peer Counseling program designed by the Center for Healthy Aging in Santa Monica, California. The service provides confidential, personal and supportive counseling to individuals facing the challenges and concerns of growing older such as loss and bereavement, retirement, health concerns, relationships, normal aging issues and loneliness.
"The Henderson and Las Vegas valley has a very large senior population and this service is designed especially for them," said Rod Davis, president, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals. "Discussing concerns with trained, caring counselors can make a huge difference in quality of life."
Dr. Judy Nelson, clinical psychologist and program supervisor, agrees. "Our 'Do you need to talk? We're here to listen.' program offers seniors an objective outlet so they can work through feelings, recognize strengths, consider alternatives, learn new coping skills and redirect their lives toward greater meaning and purpose. St. Rose counselors are professional, caring older adults who have been trained to provide supportive counseling to peers facing challenges and changes in life."
Senior Peer Counseling sessions are held in private rooms at a variety of locations both in Henderson and Las Vegas. There is no set number of sessions and the length of counseling services depends on each individual's needs. Community members can learn more about Senior Peer Counseling services at (702) 616-4900.
