St. Rose Associates Win at Governor's Points of Light Awards
(HENDERSON, NV, February 6, 2008) - Children's Miracle Network, a nonprofit service organization at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals - Southern Nevada's only Children's Miracle Network Hospital - and Hugh J. Anderson III, a St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation board member were both honored at the Governor's Points of Light Awards ceremony on January 31, 2008.
Children's Miracle Network of Southern Nevada received the Points of Light award in the Nonprofit Service Organization category while Hugh J. Anderson III was a finalist in the Southern Nevada Individual Volunteer category.
"St. Rose partnered with Children's Miracle Network in January 2005. Since then, 100 percent of every dollar raised in Southern Nevada goes to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals' pediatric center to provide equipment, charity care and health education for children," said Rod Davis, president, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals. "Last year, St. Rose treated more than 18,000 children with varying diagnoses from influenza to cancer or other life-altering illnesses. In the past 18 months, more than $800,000 has been raised to benefit children through St. Rose."
"Hugh Anderson accepted a Board position with the St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation 11 years ago while serving as Chairman of the Hospitals' Community Board," said Davis. "Hugh's leadership and support have always spurred St. Rose Dominican Hospitals to be the best - not for itself but for the community. Hugh agreed to chair the Leadership Gifts Committee in a recent capital campaign to build the San Martín Campus, and under his guidance, the campaign secured more than $7 million dollars for the campus. His deep level of involvement in and commitment to St. Rose led him to his current positions as St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation's Chairman of the Board and Chief Volunteer Officer."
